BRIGG AUCTION STILL SEEKING NEW OPERATOR

There's still no sign of Thursday auctions restarting in Brigg near the railway station.
Still known locally as Stennett's Market after a previous long-serving operator, these sales drew to a sudden halt in June 2019 - since when North Lincolnshire Council has been trying to find someone new to take over.
One of its cabinet members, Coun Carl Sherwood told Brigg Town Council's January meeting: "There's nobody interested at the moment."
Coun Penny Smith pressed for an update from the North Lincolnshire authority, as she had at previous monthly meetings.

These auctions bring many people into Brigg from a very wide area, some going on to visit shops and other businesses in the town while they are hear.
