UNUSUAL THINGS YOU SEE IN BRIGG

Survivors from the past can be spotted in Brigg from time to time.
A few older properties in the town still have their original metal boot scrapers beside the front doors (see picture above).
During Queen Victoria's reign it was common for houses to give people a way of removing mud from their footwear before entering and treading mess into the carpets.

Another oddity observed in Brigg recently came when we went to post a letter on one Monday afternoon and glanced at the metal disc at the top of the pillar box to see when our envelope would be collected.
We were surprised to see NOW on display but couldn't see a red Post Office van on its way down the street or a 'postie' approaching on foot.
It was then we realised that the metal motif actually said MON but had been put into the slot upside down. We checked the following Monday and this time it was correctly displayed.

Several people have suggested to us that the first Christmas tree to appear in Brigg town centre this year appeared in the window of the Blyton Ice Cream parlour on Wrawby Street in early October (see picture below).
