Some enterprising Brigg businesses will be open to provide food and drink for spectators and competitors who are supporting a major running race in the town centre tomorrow (Sunday, October 27).
The Brigg Poppy 10k 2019 will have 500 entrants, with scores more people turning out to watch the runners in action.
The 10k run and accompanying Military Challenge (runners carrying weighted back-packs) will start from town centre at 10am - heading off towards Cadney and returning along the same route.
We note that the Cafe Courtyard, within the Angel building, and the Woolpack, in the Market Place, are advertising the availability of morning refreshments, together with the Black Bull, on Wrawby Street, with its bacon butties. The Woolpack will be open from 9am to serve snacks.
The Steel Rooms, on the corner of Springs Parade and the Market Place, are offering breakfast buns, cakes and drinks
There's also an opportunity to take a look at the new La Finca Spanish Restaurant which launched at the weekend, adjoining the Cafe Courtyard (to the left of the glass entry door into the Angel). You can opt to take refreshments into the new eatery.
The Black Bull will be hosting a children's Halloween party on Monday (October 28) from 5pm to 7pm, with ghoulish games, creepy crafts, prizes and hot dogs. People are very welcome to drop in, accompanied by younger family members.
Brigg Town Football Club's Hawthorns Clubhouse will be holding a Halloween fancy dress disco on Thursday, October 31, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, with prizes for the best fancy dressed and most impressively carved pumpkin. Hotdogs, burgers and chips will be available at reasonable prices - Pips Kitchen now being established at the venue.
