Despite Brigg Town Football Club's home match against Retford being called off on Saturday (October 26) things went ahead as normal at the nearby Recreation Ground.
Following heavy rain, Town's game was postponed because of the water that had soaked into the pitch at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns).
But at North Lincolnshire Council's Rec Ground, Briggensians not only played but won to secure a semi-final place in one of the cup competitions organised for member teams by the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League.
Briggensians beat Santon 5-3 in the Tortank Barton Brotherhood Cup - courtesy of two goals from Ben Lingard and one apiece by Ciaran Savage, Jamie Craigie and Justin Walker. On the mark for Santon were Josh Housam (2) and Kieran Dickinson.
The wet weather took its toll on the Scunthorpe & District League with only two out the eight scheduled fixtures being played.
This Saturday (November 2) Barnetby United will travel south to Crowland Town for a Lincolnshire FA County Junior Cup second round tie, kicking off at 1.30pm.
Briggensians will be playing Santon again - this time away from home, in Division Two (2pm start). Barnetby United Reserves are without a fixture in this section.
