LITTER LEFT JUST TWO DAYS AFTER BRIGG VOLUNTEERS DID A TIDY UP

Brigg - like most towns - fights a constant battle against people who leave litter on the streets and at other locations.
Public money is expended on paying workers to collect it, with community-minded volunteers joining in periodically during organised litter-picking sessions.
These pictures - taken on a Monday morning (October 21) - show fast food cartons and wrappings that had been left over the weekend in the Tintab Shelter on East Park, close to the Monument war memorial.
Just two days earlier, a Saturday morning little-picking session had been held, involving volunteers who met up at the Bandstand in the Market Place before setting off with collection bags to cover parts of the town.
In view of the time and effort expended, they have good reason to feel disappointed with the scenes shown in our pictures.

Just a few yards to walk from the Tintab shelter to the litter bin provided on East Park.
