TOURISM IS BOOMING IN LINCOLNSHIRE: BRIGG BLOG REVEALS THE LATEST FIGURES

New figures  show that the value of Lincolnshire's tourism industry has risen by more than £300 million over the last five years, reaching £1.37 billion in 2016, Brigg Blog can reveal.
Latest statistics indicate that during 2016 the county attracted almost 20 million visitors – nearly three million more than it did in 2011.
And that has helped increase the value of the county's visitor economy by around 30 per cent over that five-year period.
Coun Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "Tourism is a key industry for the county economy, employing over 19,000 people.
"We're working hard to attract even more visitors, and over the last couple of years we've dramatically improved what we have to offer.
"From the major refurbishment of Lincoln Castle to the new visitor centre at Gibraltar Point and the outdoor theatre space at Chapel St Leonards, we're making sure Lincolnshire is a year-round tourist destination.
"With the RAF centenary year in 2018 and Mayflower 400 celebrations in 2020 there is much more on the horizon, I'm confident our tourism economy will continue to thrive in the years to come."

N.F. adds:
Lincolnshire County Council's boundary borders Brigg on Bigby High Road, pictured above, and the far end of Westrum Lane. North Lincolnshire Council operates  the award-winning Brigg Tourist Information Centre at our Buttercross. The figures issued above by the Lincolnshire authority are welcome and impressive. As local residents, some of us tend to forget the importance to  shops and visitor attractions.

Cadney and Howsham are in North Lincs..the unusual situation is that they are in the Scunthorpe Electoral District...as is Scawby and the residents of Scawby Brook.
As already indicated, parts of Westrum Lane, as well as the Garden Centre and the housing around Pingley/Kettleby are in Lincs CC.
Therefore, Brigg, as a urban township, technically have 3 MPs representing its residents!
