This is an application for planning permission to install ball stop fencing on the southern boundary, between the large grass football pitch and the A18, Wrawby Road (opposite the cemetery and close to the Rec's entry road).
Brigg Town Council must be consulted as part of the planning process and considered this application during the latest Planning and Environment Committee meeting, held in the Angel Suite.
The committee decided to support the application.
Councillor Jane Gibbons (pictured) said: "I would think no-one would want balls going on the road."
Brigg Blog thinks it very surprising such sensible fencing was not put in place decades ago. There is a mature hedge, but it's not very high.
In our day, hockey rather than junior football was played on the grass pitch nearest Wrawby Road. Misplaced shots at goal quite often found a way through the hedge and the ball had to be retrieved from the A18.
Also considered by the Brigg Town Council Planning and Environment Committee at its latest meeting was an application to erect a first floor side and rear extension at 10 St Helen's Road.
There were no objections raised. And along with the ball stop fencing application, the house extension application now progresses to North Lincolnshire Council for final consideration.
