An historic Brigg town centre pub can now be given a new look.
North Lincolnshire Council planners have approved a scheme put forward for the Lord Nelson Hotel, in the Market Place, by owner The Old Mill Brewery, Snaith.
Listed building consent has been given to install replacement illuminated and non-illuminated signs and to repaint the exterior of the building.
Unconditional advertisement consent has also been granted for the grade two listed building within  Brigg Conservation Area.
Brigg Town Council told planners  that it supported the scheme, and no letters of objection were received from members of the public.
A written assessment by North Lincolnshire planning staff explained this was a re-submission following an earlier application that had been refused by the council because the  signs proposed were not considered appropriate for a listed building.
However, the report concluded that the signs proposed in the second application "are in keeping with the listed building and conservation area and would not detract from the listed building."
In the original submission it was proposed to display aluminium signs "at various places on the building" - some illuminated.
However, the revised application instead included fascia and hanging signs, the report pointed out.
A "painted advertisement" planned for the  front of the building was also removed from the revised scheme.

The Lord Nelson recently won an award . View details here...
