BRIGG WORKERS WILL BE AMONG THOSE TO BENEFIT

FROM NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

Starting this month (April), 1,222 North Lincolnshire Council employees will see their pay increase in line with the new National Minimum Wage of £7.20 an hour. The council is also applying the new Living Wage to those under 25 – benefiting a further 79 people.

• Those to benefit are:
• School kitchen assistants
• Cleaners
• Level one teaching assistants
• Midday supervisors
• Recreation assistants at leisure centres.
• One second year apprentice under the age of 25 

Coun Rob Waltham (Brigg & Wolds), deputy leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The Government’s new Living Wage will benefit 1,302 council employees who will all receive a pay increase from April this year.
“We want to see better paid jobs across North Lincolnshire and the new Living Wage is welcome news for many. It is also the start of work to narrow the gender pay gap where historically, men are paid more than women.
“We have not only applied the Living Wage to those eligible e.g. over 25s, but gone one step further and applied it to those who are under 25 too, making it fairer to everyone and meaning more employees benefit.”
