BRIGG COUNCILLOR BECOMES DEPUTY LEADER OF NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE UNITARY AUTHORITY

Coun Rob Waltham, of Brigg, has been elected Deputy Leader of North Lincolnshire Council.
Brigg businessman Coun Nigel Sherwood switches from being Cabinet Member for Highways and Neighbourhoods to become Chairman of the Planning Committee.
Coun Carl Sherwood, former Brigg Town Mayor, is North Lincolnshire's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Customer Services.
These appointments were made at the authority's annual meeting.
North Lincolnshire also has a new Mayor – Coun Helen Rowson - and Deputy Mayor, Coun Trevor Foster. 
Helen's chosen charity is Lindsey Lodge Hospice, something that is dear to her heart. 
Helen was born, raised and educated in Winterton – she lives in Walcot and works locally. 
This is her third term serving on North Lincolnshire Council. 
Helen is a strong advocate for local communities, especially children and young people. 
In Helen’s spare time, she likes to read, socialise with friends and has completed lots of charity walks and runs for local causes. While Deputy Mayor (May 2014 to May 2015), Helen took the place of the Mayor to do a Skydive at Hibaldstow from a height of 15,000 feet. 
She raised more than £1,800 for the Mayor’s charities.

North Lincolnshire Council is a Conservative controlled council with the Conservatives holding 26 seats and Labour 17..
The annual meeting of North Lincolnshire Council took place on Thursday (May 21).
Helen Rowson, Mayor of North Lincolnshire, said: “I’m really looking forward to taking on the role of Mayor of North Lincolnshire and to meeting lots of people and raising as much money as possible during my year in office.  Lindsey Lodge Hospice is my chosen charity and is very dear to my heart. I hope that I can get people on board and help support me to raise money for this very important charity. To be able to represent North Lincolnshire is a real honour and one I will take on board with enthusiasm and vigour.”
Coun Redfern, the Leader,  said: “Helen will do a fantastic job representing North Lincolnshire and will be great ambassador. Trevor is no stranger to the role of mayor and deputy, having been deputy mayor two years ago and I’m sure will do a great job supporting Helen as Mayor. There’s much to shout about in North Lincolnshire and it will be Helen and Trevor’s role to ensure they spread the word, while at the same time raise money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice – a great choice and very worthy cause.
“Over the next four years, as leader, I will be concentrating on providing better paid jobs for people and will continue our work to regenerate and develop North Lincolnshire to make it a prosperous and better place.”
Couns Nigel and Carl Sherwood and Coun Rob Waltham also have seats on Brigg Town Council.
