BRIGG BLESSING OF PUMPS GOES AHEAD WITHOUT CRAFT MARKET

Brigg's traditional Blessing of the Pumps celebrations will go ahead as planned on Saturday, June 6 in the town centre. But the hoped-for craft market has been cancelled, due to little response being received.
Dancing will start at 10am and the blessing from 11.30am.
The Grimsby Morris Men, Scunthorpe Tatterfoals and Brownies will be involved.
Two of the communal water pumps which once served the town before piped supplies became universal in people's homes have survived.
They are in Grammar School Road South, beside Wetherspoon's White Horse pub, and very close to the County Bridge, near the Nelthorpe Arms.
Saturday's general market in Brigg town centre will still operate on June 6 so there will still be some stalls to visit.
