A proposed new Brigg school passed through the first stage of the planning process with flying colours.
Planning permission is being sought to construct a new Vale Academy building, off Grammar School Road, on the same site as the existing one, which will be demolished once work on the "new build" is completed.
Last night (Wednesday) Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee, meeting in the Angel Suite Lounge, considered the application and raised no objections. Indeed, there was support for the project.
Councillor Chris Dyson summed it up in one word: "Fantastic!"
The application now goes before North Lincolnshire Council planners for the final stage of the process.
The "new build" will accommodate 1,010 pupils. Sorry, students.

Questions:
1. Is the Vale Academy & the 6th Form College funded from the same source?
2, According to Plans, what has happened to the existing Redcombe building and, therefore, the 6th Form rooms? It seems to have been superimposed by part of a running track.
3. What will happen to the existing 4 gateways to '2' above, which presently give access to building and/or playing field?
4. Do I assume that these gateways will be closed and removed.....or will they be untidily left as crumbling remnants of the old school - particularly as they are, according to the Plan, far removed from the new buildings?
5. Will the proposed school's sports-field be a public amenity outside school hours/terms?
6. Assuming that the Redcombe school site will be demolished - an extensive building, what provision has been made for access for Hgv's and from site via the essentially residential roads of the nearby estate? Noise? Dust?
It seems fairly obvious that demolition machinery.Hgv's will not use the Grammar School Road entrance and will untilise the nearest access point - Redcombe Lane......and it is seemingly ironic that nearby roads are planned to be suitably resurfaced just in time for conveys of Hgv's to trundle along.
