As part of Adult Learners’ Week (14 to 20 June 2014) North Lincolnshire Council’s Adult Community Learning is holding a Family Carnival Capers workshop at Brigg Youth Centre on Saturday (14 June).
The free family drop-in event at the Grammar School Road Youth Centre in Brigg is from 10.30am to 2pm.
It is a fantastic opportunity for families to spend some quality time together and have some fun.
Take part in a wide range of great activities. Make vibrant carnival masks, practise your football skills and decorate some funky football foam hands. Get ready to celebrate the FIFA World Cup 2014 in style.
Free refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome to join in the family fun. All children must be accompanied by an adult though.
Coun Rob Waltham (Brigg & Wolds), cabinet member for people, said: “The Adult Community Learning team wants to highlight that no matter what your age you can still learn and try something new. This workshop is a brilliant way for all the family to get together and have some fun whilst learning to do something new. Everyone is welcome to join in the free Carnival Capers workshop.
“Adult Community Learning provides a wide-ranging choice of courses at different locations. If you would like to develop your knowledge or learn a new skill, have a look at what course you can take part in on our website www.northlincs.gov.uk/schools-libraries-learning/adult-education/courses/ ”
Adult Learners’ Week is a celebration of lifelong learning. Adults who continue to learn throughout their lives are healthier, happier and have greater self-confidence and self-esteem. In short, Adult Learners’ Week is the best time to show how adult learning improves and enhances social cohesion, economic vitality and social mobility. In addition to this, during May and June a Festival of Learning is being held to encourage adults, families and communities to give learning a go and try something new.
