Congratulations to Brigg Town Cricket Club (division four) on a fine win at Hibaldstow (division two) in the first round of the George Marshall Trophy, organised by the Lincolnshire County Cricket League.
This was a rare Sunday fixture for the Brigg club which these days has just a solitary Saturday side.
It's not that long ago that we played regularly on Sundays in the North Lindsey League, prior to which there were some enjoyable Sunday friendlies - the vast majority played away from home.
We went to a number of grounds in Yorkshire and on one memorable occasion crossed the Pennines to play at Irlam, near Manchester, on the hottest day of the summer.
