WILL WATERS EDGE, BROUGHTON - ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF BRIGG - PROVE A MAJOR TALKING POINT DURING 2014?

CONFLUENCE: Brigg is just beyond the bridge over the New River Ancholme, Scawby parish is to the right and Broughton on the left, with a few of the houses on the Waters Edge estate just visible.

One of the main topics in Brigg during 2014 could well be Waters Edge, on the outskirts of town, and whether the first steps might be taken towards moving the boundary of our town to take in this large housing estate, which is currently within the parish of Broughton.
Brigg Town Council says the neighbouring authority in Broughton has made it clear that it is vehemently opposed to any suggestion that the boundaries should change.
After Broughton's letter had been notified to Brigg councillors at their November meeting, Coun James Truepenny reminded his colleagues that Brigg Town Council had not asked for the boundaries to be changed, but had simply suggested that people living in areas bordering Brigg should be given the opportunity to make their own decisions.
Brigg Town Council has also  received word from North Lincolnshire Council that further advice is being taken "with regard to the procedural requirements of the Community Governance Review."
It's bound to be a long and probably slow process. But expect to hear about this topic from time to time next year. The next instalment could well be the reply from the legal experts at North Lincolnshire Council.
