We can only guess that the reason the third successive Sunday of roadworks failed to take place on the A18 in Brigg yesterday was because of the diversion employed through our town following the closure of the A1077 in South Ferriby due to flood damage.
A sensible decision by someone in authority, given the amount of extra traffic diverted through Brigg from the Barton area where drivers' usual route across the River Ancholme at Ferriby Sluice was no longer available to them.
That's our theory why the line painting on Tesco roundabout was put back. But official confirmation has yet to be received.
