PARKING SPACES IN BRIGG MEANT FOR SHOPPERS' CARS?

Brigg Blog took this picture during the recent spell of roadworks at The Monument. Note the heavy machinery parked up in the lay-by on Wrawby Street - outside the old courthouse/police station.
We have to ask the question: Aren't parking spaces like this meant for shoppers' cars?
Blog followers may recall we ran another Monument resurfacing picture showing a lorry parked up in Bigby Street, taking up a couple of spaces opposite the former Post Office that shoppers could have used.
We' feel we've given positive coverage to the good work done on the Monument resurfacing, and the end result is impressive. However, we are now asking North Lincolnshire Council to consider the issue of parking spaces being taken up in this way.
Other repairs will be undertaken in the town, in due course, and a word in the right ear, at the right time, could avoid any repetition.

As the Devil's Advocate, Nige - have you ever parked in this area and then attempted to pull-out?
The road (Barnard Ave/Wrawby St)near the bays has a good bending curve - and one can't see vehicles travelling towards the Monument until they are very close.
On the few occasions I've parked in the bays,I've needed to be very acutely aware on leaving and have used the gas pedal to get me into the traffic flow asap....
We need extra parking bays, but I don't think these are particularly ideally situated.......but they are there; little can be done to improve the problem and a few extra bays it offers is better than nowt.
