DOES BRIGG HAVE A COMMUNITY CHAMPION IN ITS MIDST?

FROM NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

Do you know someone who you think deserves to be awarded for their achievements and inspirational work? Nominate them for a Community Champion Awards 2013.
There isn’t much time left to nominate, so nominate someone today! It is a great way to show someone what a difference they make to people’s lives in North Lincolnshire.
The awards on 28 November 2013 will be the second Community Champion Awards being held in North Lincolnshire. Last year’s awards ceremony was a huge success that honoured people’s achievements and inspirational work.
Do you know someone who deserves recognition for the time they dedicated to volunteering or for overcoming barriers or excelling in a sport of the arts? Is there a community group that deserves recognition for its work in the local community, or do you know someone who is a true inspiration to others? If so, don’t miss the chance to nominate them.

You can nominate people by completing an online form on the council’s website (www.northlincs.gov.uk/leisure/community-champion-awards/), request a nomination form by emailing community.recreation@northlincs.gov.uk or call 01724 297270. You can also pick up a nomination form at any local link or library in North Lincolnshire. The deadline for nominations is Sunday 22 September 2013.
The awards are split into four categories – Volunteer, Achievement, Community, and Inspiration. Across these, there will be 22 individual awards presented, each sponsored by a local business.
Scunthorpe Telegraph, Tata Steel and Kapil Care Homes and North Lincolnshire Council are the main sponsors of the event.
To find out what the individual awards are and the sponsors, visit the Community Champion Awards pages on the council website www.northlincs.gov.uk/leisure/community-champion-awards/

Coun John Briggs from Crowle, Cabinet Member for Asset Management, Culture and Housing, said:
“It’s not long now until the 2013 Community Champion Awards and I’m sure it is going to be a wonderful evening. Last year’s awards were a fantastic occasion and it was a great honour to be around such inspirational people.

“The awards are a great way of bringing the local community together in celebration of all the good things in North Lincolnshire. If you know someone that you believe deserves to win one of the awards, make sure you nominate them as there are only a few weeks left to put their name forward.”
