FROM CLIFF TURNER - FORMER BRIGG RESIDENT NOW IN NEW ZEALAND
I suspect that few Brigg people will remember that in the mid-1930s a
repertory company put on weekly shows at the Parish Hall and, I think, did a
matinee show for children on Saturdays. I can remember my parents going to see
East Lynne, a tear-jerker based on a book written by Ellen Wood in 1861. In one
of the children's shows Ken Bell and his cousin Marjorie Bell made a brief
appearance and I can still recall Ken's line "I've been playing hopscotch with
Lisa".
I
cannot recall how long the company stayed but think it must have been at least 6
weeks.
