COMMUNITY 'LEAD' PLAN TO DEVELOP SKILLS MAY INTEREST BRIGG AREA CRAFTSMEN (AND WOMEN)

If you’re good with your hands, have an eye for detail and fancy a career change, you could have what it takes to help keep our historic buildings looking their best.
Lincolnshire County Council and Lincoln Cathedral are offering two heritage skills bursaries in leadwork. Thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the successful candidates will undergo an 18-month full-time training placement based at Lincoln Cathedral, helping them develop a range of specialist skills.
Mary Powell, Tourism Development Manager at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “It’s vitally important we pass on this knowledge to help protect our historic buildings for future generations. As a cathedral leadworker you will learn specialist roofing skills on site, and study for a City and Guilds qualification.
“You need to be over 18 and already have some experience in construction, roofing, art and design or engineering. We’re looking for people with the potential to become expert craftspeople and who are committed to pursuing a career in the heritage sector in the UK.
