Brigg Blog stopped off at Brigg Cemetery on Saturday afternoon on the way to cover Brigg Town FC's home match.
This being early autumn, we thought we'd have a scout round on the grassy area near the cemetery entrance and see how many fallen conkers we could find. Sadly, there was only one to hand.
It's been a very wet summer - but surely you'd expect that to assist conker production by very mature horse chestnut trees. Isn't having lots of water available much better for them than drought conditions?
It could be, of course, that the Brigg kids were out early on Saturday and collected what had fallen overnight to string them up - just as we did in the 1960s. But somehow we doubt it.
Do any kids still play conkers in Brigg in 2012?
