BRIGG HORSE ONCE WON GRAND NATIONAL
Many folk in Brigg have received various emails from betting concerns informing them about today's Grand National, as if we really needed reminding about the most famous of all horse races.
Last year some local money was placed, with lucrative returns, on Ballabriggs, due to the name. And that horse is running again today (typical odds 14/1).
Back in 1948, Sheila's Cottage, owned by the top man at Brigg's Lord Nelson pub, won as a rank outsider, which was fantastic not only for Mr Proctor but also for towsfolk who backed it and others who were treated to celebratory drinks in Brigg that night.
If you are someone who only bets once a year, perhaps on the National, we'll again tip Ballabriggs. Get down to Ladbrokes in the Market Place, or nip in to the BetFred, premises off Old Courts Road.
And don't forget to bet responsibly with your £1 stake!
