WHO DO U-TURN TO FOR SOLUTION?

Brigg Blog knows that North Lincolnshire Council is having a look at whether road safety measures might be necessary on Bigby Road, Brigg, following our earlier posts about how vehicles access the parking bays outside the mail sorting office.
Since our original scribblings on this topic we've kept a regular eye on things and have spotted that a number of drivers have discovered it is possible, in smaller cars, to do a complete U-turn from one side of Bigby Road into the parking bays right outside the Post Office.
As there's a bend in Bigby Road just a few yards further along, near the former Prep School, it's to be hoped that all the U-turners look very carefully before undertaking this admittedly legal procedure.
These short-stay parking bays - on both sides of Bigby Road - are very welcome and much-used.

One possible solution, Scribs is to put a central barrier in the middle of the road - thus making it impossible to U-turn on this section of road with poor sight lines about the bend.
This would force parking motorists wishing to park directly outside the sorting office to detour via the flower-bed road outside Hewson House - exiting back onto Bigby Road on the outside of the bend (better sight lines) to park in the bays - facing the Monument.
Those motorists leaving the bays on the Hewson House side would compelled (assuming a need to get back to the Monument) to use the one-way system - Cross St - Wrawby St - Queen St (which most already do anyway) in their quest to return to the Monument Roundabout.
Those exiting Queen St wishing to go up Albert St/Station Road will still be able to go straight ahead; those wishing to turn right towards Cadney/The Angel carpark would have to go via the flower-bed road - thus making the flower bed (its shape may have to be altered) a mini-roundabout.
Add a few traffic calming devices and the road should become safer.
