BRIGG RACE FANS CAN ENJOY CIRCUS SUNDAY

Many Brigg people enjoy a day at the Lincolnshire races. And in addition to the horses this coming Sunday at the Market Rasen course, spectators will encounter jugglers, stilt walkers, face painters and balloon modellers on ‘Circus Sunday’ racing day.
There is every incentive for youngsters – who are admitted free of charge – to persuade their parents to come along early because the first 100 children through the gates will each receive a free bag of circus sweets.
The goodies come courtesy of Garnets Traditional Confectionary which has an outlet in the Tattersalls Enclosure.
Circus Jim will be on course too with his ‘have-a-go’ circus workshop.
After the abandonment of the first February fixture due to the wintry weather, newly appointed temporary clerk of the course, Robert Bellamy, oversees the track for the first time.
Robert retired as a professional jockey in 2001 – and has been clerk at a number of racecourses.  His career as a jockey included a Grand National victory - on Trinitro in the Norwegian version in 1999, and it was on that horse he also had one of his two rides in the Grand National at Aintree, though sadly the partnership got no further than the first fence.
Sunday, February 19: Premier Members £26; County Enclosure £19; Tattersalls £14; Family Enclosure £9.  Accompanied children under 18 admitted free of charge.  Parking free.
The first of seven races is at 1.40pm, and gates open from 11.30am.  The feature race is the Mark Suckling Novices’ Chase.
