BRIGG MIGHT LIKE TO FLY THE FLAG

Brigg no longer boasts a flagpole on the balcony of the Angel.
With celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee coming along in the Market Place in June, it would be good to see the Union Flag flying proudly from this loft vantage point.
It wouldn’t be much bother, or expense, to put the old one back, if it has just been removed for safe-keeping – or, if not, to provide a new one.
As our picture shows, the once private Angel Hotel is now in the ownership of North Lincolnshire Council and the base for office staff or varying ranks and functions.
To the rear of the Angel, Brigg is to lose some public parking spaces for almost two months.
North Lincolnshire Council has given notice that 11 bays at the Angel car park, off Elwes Street, will be withdrawn from February 17 to May 8.
This is for allow a temporary site compound in connection with changes being made within the Angel building, where there are plans for a Heritage Centre and  relocated library.
We spotted a notice about this pinned to a signpost near the Angel while we were there to photograph the new Brigg Town Council letterbox in the Rotuna.
This is because the existing letterbox, in North Lincolnshire Council’s part of the Angel complex, is expected to disappear during the forthcoming ground floor alterations.
Just round the corner, the Brigg Town Council noticeboard looks smart, as does the sign showing visitors where to locate the authority’s office.
