Congratulations to Scalini's chippie, in Wrawby Street, Brigg, for spotting a business opportunity on Sunday morning when many people came to the Market Place to view the cars lining up to take part in the Border rally. Bacon, egg and sausage butties were on offer, together with tea and coffee and other refreshments. If the event returns next year, then perhaps other Brigg traders will take a leaf out of Stavros' book and open for business.
ALMOST 30 PICTURES OF THE CLASSIC CARS IN BRIGG MARKET PLACE CAN BE VIEWED ON THE BRIGG PEOPLE WEBSITE'S GALLERY SECTION, PLUS A REPORT. FOLLOW THIS LINK ...

I accept that Brigg Blog & Brigg People are doing an excellent job in advertising and promoting local events...but there seems to be a lack of coordination, bordering on apathy from others to follow BB and BP example.
I remember reading about it, but I'd forgotten the date; and a straw poll in the White Horse with a number of regulars - none knew anything about it, although someone wondered what the old cars were doing going along Barnard Ave.
We talk about Brigg needing to attract folks...then why are we just casually allowing events like the Classic Car Rally to happen?
We need a proper events programme for Brigg and district; we need designated sites for public notices/information; we need C21st technology in such places as pubs, eateries, TIC....that offer visitors and local touch-screen information of local groups and amenities, forthcoming events; local history; local news.....
If we can't do that, then a few utility promotional 'A-frames scattered about the place could alert folks to what's happening..
Or is that too much to ask?
