TRAIN OF THOUGHT

A sizeable gang of workers came to refurbish Brigg railway station a few weeks ago but not much has happened. Just a few holes have been covered with boards and a fence put up to deter the few passengers using the Saturdays-only service from venturing to the outer limits of platform one. We trust it won't be too long before workmen return to carry on with the task, along the lines of I've started so I'll finish.

Perhaps the gang fell into a hole and need rescueing, Scribs.
Wot's all this I'm reading in the local rag re 140 mph express fron Scunny, Nige?
Why not re-establish the Barnetby - London direct line?
You're our train expert - so wot's your response, NF?

No use to Brigg folk, Ken, unless they have a car at their disposal and can leave it parked all day in Barnetby or Scunny. By the time you get back to either of those places after spending a worthwhile amount of time in the capital, it will be too late to get a bus. Taxis outside Scunthorpe station much of the time but not at Barnetby. When Brigg had a daily train service you could go to Retford and catch one to London.
