HARVEST FESTIVAL WITH A DIFFERENCE IN BRIGG THIS YEAR

A harvest festival weekend with a difference is to be held in Brigg this month as summer gives way to autumn.
Many people see harvest festival as a communal act of worship which involves singing Henry Alford's familiar hymn Come, Ye Thankful People, Come, with its reference to produce being safely gathered in before winter.
However, when Brigg Methodist Church holds its 2019 harvest festival weekend there will be a film show, as well as more traditional features.
On Saturday, September 21 at 6pm there will be a screening of hit comedy Chicken Run, made in 2000 by award-winning Aardman Animations.
Local people are being invited along to enjoy this farm-based film with a happy ending, which will be followed by a pie and pea supper costing £5.
The church is asking volunteers to drop in at 2pm on the 21st to help decorate the church with flowers.
Donations suitable for Brigg Food Bank will also be very welcome if you wish to make a generous contribution to the cause.
There will be a harvest festival service at 10.30am on Sunday, September 22, with Deacon Helen Webster.

If you can't make the church's harvest festival, donations to Brigg Food Bank can be made at the pop-in shop on Wrawby Street (directly opposite the entrance to College Yard).
