ARE THERE ANY NEW BRIGG FOOTBALL TEAMS WAITING IN THE WINGS?

Brigg Blog is happy to help by publicising a local sports league's appeal but sad that it's necessary to do so.
The EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District Football League - our local Saturday afternoon competiton - has a long and proud history.
However, there's been a considerable reduction in the number of teams taking part over a number of years.
Now the league has sent us what it calls an important notice as it needs more teams for next season - and urgently.
Those interested in joining need to let the league know as soon as possible.
Contact Kev Clark on 07850 859912 or  Paul Birkitt on 07721 004181.
Alternatively, email  satfootball@btinternet.com or scunnyfootballleague@sky.com
Briggensians FC play in this league, together with two Barnetby United sides.
Brigg Recreation Ground has enjoyed wonderful refurbishment, including the changing rooms, and an adult grass pitch has been retained (pictured above).
This is a great venue for local football, but certainly not the only one available to use in the Brigg area.
Are there any aspiring new teams in the town? Perhaps allied to a local pub or company.
In the mid-1980s,  Brigg Amateurs FC  had three teams in the Scunthorpe League.
Two adult pitches were then available at the Rec and fully utilised on Saturdays and Sundays.
