IS THIS A BRIGG FAST FOOD RECORD?
Brigg Blog is wondering whether a local fast food record has been set.
We had been down in London for a few days on a family visit - hence the absence of weekend posts - and arrived back in Brigg on Sunday evening by taxi from Scunthorpe, having returned from the capital to the steel town on an air-conditioned National Express coach bound for Hull.
Fancying an Indian meal in the hot weather, we visited the Diya Spice on Bigby Street but, reckoning on a wait of half-an-hour, asked the proprietor to deliver the takeaway.
We set off walking and as we turned into our cul-de-sac the delivery vehicle from the Diya Spice overtook us and their man was waiting at the door when we arrived home.
Talk about fast food!
A fine feast it was, too. And with the additional pickle tray we added to our order it made another meal of renowned medium-to-hot Murgh Chadni the following day.
Just as well we resisted the temptation to call in for a cool pint at the Britannia while walking home on Sunday in heat that reminded us of a holiday spent in Marmaris, Turkey - a resort also renowned for a fine range of spicy dishes.
