WETHERSPOON'S BEER & BURGER OFFER

Wetherspoon's, which operates the White Horse pub/restaurant in Brigg town centre, has taken to Twitter to publicise the availability of its Beer & Burger offer on the night England take on Slovakia in the Euro 2016 football tournament.
The national chain says "If you're watching the EURO 2016 matches in one of our pubs later today, grab a Beerand Burger to see you through."
The burger is 6 ounces. It's pleasing to see they are using good old imperial measures and not resorting to "continental" Kgs.
Tonight's televised game kicks off at 8pm our time.
Much amusement in one of last night's televised games, involving France. The ball burst, three players' shirts ripped after minimal contact with opponents and players kept slipping on the grass. Commentators suggested difficult conditions under foot. Why don't they just wear an old-fashioned pair of boots with long studs?
Football, even in Brigg, used to be played on lush grass (early season), gradually giving way to a mudbath, before drier conditions developed in March/April but with little grass remaining. And everyone managed just fine!
