RAILING ABOUT BRIGG CRIME

A Freedom of Information request has shown 15 crimes recorded at Brigg railway station by British Transport Police in the past four years.
This statistic is of interest in the light of the Brigg crime figures issued monthly through www.police.co.uk which are always brought to you via Brigg Blog.
We think the www.police.co.uk "stats" relate to crimes recorded by Humberside Police.
But what about those acted upon by British Transport Police, whose remit includes railway stations? Are any, or all, railway-related crimes in the Brigg area included in the overall figures released online?
It's interesting to consider how they might record a crime of anti-social behaviour reported on a train between Sheffield, Brigg and Cleethorpes, passing through several police force areas.
If the conductor/guard noted someone misbehaving when an eastbound train pulled out of Brigg, if he phoned police immediately it might be considered a crime within the Humberside Police area, but if he waited a minute or two the DMU would have passed into Bigby parish, policed by the neighbouring Lincolnshire force.
As Jack Dixon used to say: "Evening All."
