FROM MALCOLM BAILEY, BRIGG TOWN BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP
Briggstock
2014, Saturday
30th
August
Three
weeks on Saturday - 30th August - we will be enjoying our third
Briggstock Acoustic festival
There
will be a rolling start of
live music at four busking stations (Bridge
Street, Wrawby Street, College Yard and Chapel Court) from 10am onwards.
The
main stage
will go live at 11am and end with
the very talented and
must-hear Lizzie
Goddard headlining at 5pm.
Huge thanks go to Coun James Truepenny, again, for
organising the musical side of things, and to Sophie Brumby
for
the design of our marketing material.
Each
year we try to build on the previous year’s
success.
This
year we will see Paul
Keane in Brigg Stocks! We also hope to have a limited amount of seating and to
trial the provision of street food courtesy of a BBQ run by the Deli Diner
(burgers, etc). If successful we will expand on these next
year.
There
is a very active promotional programme with flyers going to all residents,
courtesy of Brigg Matters newsletter, a further leaflet drop of 4,000 to outlying villages,
press releases and
radio interviews.
Further
distribution of flyers has taken place to sports halls
and
information centres further afield, thanks to Margaret
Price
and her team at North Lincolnshire Council.
Banners for the main stage are being sponsored by Brigg
Town Council and local businesses. By
popular demand, Chris Darlington and Jane Kitching will be treading the sandwich
boards the week before at the Food
Festival organised by NLC on 23rd August.
I’m also told that the Nelthorpe
Arms, our newest BTBP member, is continuing with live music into the evening
after the official Briggstock event closes.
What can I do to help, I hear you ask! The
purpose behind
Briggstock is, of course, to
attract folk into the town, to
increase the footfall and ultimately
increase
trade in Brigg on behalf of us all.
I would like to ask for your
help
in
promoting
both this event, and that of the Food Festival the week
before.
Last request: if anyone has a couple of hours spare on the
30th to steward please let Janet know - janet@link2energy.co.uk
Finally,
we are extremely grateful to North Lincolnshire Council for the provision of a
community grant which, when coupled with our residual Portas monies and
fundraising, enables us to put Briggstock on and our other programme
events throughout the year.
