"Subject to contract" North Lincolnshire Council has sold the former children's home in Poplar Drive, Brigg - for which the guide price was £170,000. It has eight bedrooms and is quite a sizeable property on the Springbank estate.

Since then he has umpired as a member of the Scunthorpe panel. He is results secretary of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League, chairman of the Broughton Evening League and supplies cricket content for the Scunthorpe Telegraph, the Grimsby Telegraph and the Lincolnshire Echo.
