PRIZE BRIGG ALLOTMENTS REVEALED

1st in the allotments section -  Mr F Cooper, Plot 1, Grammar School Road, receiving the Mary Robins Memorial Rose Bowl, a certificate and £50 voucher for Brigg Garden Centre from Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood.
The best-kept garden and allotment in Brigg have been chosen, in a popular annual competition organised by the Town Council.
The winners were announced at the Angel Suite yesterday (Sunday, October 6).
Best-kept garden in Brigg for 2013 was tended by Colin Flint, of 16 Highfield Grove, while the prize allotment was Mr F Cooper's Plot 1 on Grammar School Road.
Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood presided at the Brigg Town Council Civic Award Presentations.
He began by thanking Brigg Garden Centre for its joint sponsorship of both sections with the Town Council and also regional manager Rod Austin for undertaking the final judging of gardens.
Also thanked was Vic Bowness for his final judging of the allotments.
Vic took over as judge following the death of Allistair Stothard, who had performed the task for a number of years.
Vic announced that Brigg Horticultural Society wished to introduce something new in 2014 by making onions available to be grown by the allotment holders.
Tom Glossop, Freeman of Brigg, was thanked for taking photographs of the best gardens - something he had done during his time as a councillor.
