HOP-ORTUNITY KNOCKS FOR ONE-LEGGED PIGEON

You've probably seen the TV adverts for the funky pigeon company ... well, in Brigg we have a stumpy pigeon.
The one-legged bird visits our back garden from time to time and manages to get about on the ground in the search for food, although in rather ungainly, waddling fashion.
We are pleased to report that it's a particularly plump pigeon and is clearly not going short of food. It has no handicap once taking flight.
Whether it was born with only one leg or has lost a limb in some mishap we cannot say.
We've had a wren and a robin drop by in recent days, plus a bullfinch.
But now winter's approaching we wonder whether there might be a repeat of last year's visit by a fieldfare from Scandinavia.
That has equal footing in our 'most rare' list with a solitary peacock and a sparrow hawk.
We'd be interested to know of any rare birds sited in Brigg gardens over the coming months. Please email scoopfisher@aol.com
