Ken writes: Brigg Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood officially launched Brigg Food Bank on Friday. While the UK comes to the aid of those overseas, Coun Kitwood said that we must not forget those vulnerable people in our local community and very much welcomed Brigg's inter-church venture of opening a local Food Bank.
Launching the project from St Mary's church hall, local church members and Food Bank volunteers assembled to listen to the official opening during Friday afternoon.
The Brigg Food Bank co-ordinator  indicated that the project needed donations of non-perishable goods, such as tinned and package food, saying: "'Unfortunately, we at present, cannot really accept fresh food, such as bread, cakes and vegetables - obviously, these produce create their own storage problems."
Donations of non-perishable goods can be left at any of Brigg's various churches and these will be forwarded to Brigg's Food Bank.
