DOING THE SPADEWORK FOR BRIGG PLANTING SCHEME

The youngest member of Brigg Town Council came forward with a blooming good idea during September's meeting.
Coun Luke Sherwood (pictured) suggested erecting signs at the allotment sites on Atherton Way/Redcombe Lane and Grammar School Road to publicise the council's 2017 Spring/Summer Planting Scheme.
A working party is being set up, to include not only councillors but other local people with green fingers. Further members would be welcome.
This group will determine and progress all aspects of the planting scheme, which will include the siting of baskets and planters, the plants and compost.
Coun Penny Smith suggested that a community group would prove worthwhile, as there was a need for public involvement.
"We need the community to pull together with the Town Council," she stressed.
