BRIGG 1 SCUNTHORPE 1 - BACK OF THE NET! SORRY, BACK OF THE SHOP!

Brigg has been outstripped and overtaken by Scunthorpe in so many ways over the past 100 years, particularly when it comes to size and population and in football teams. Ours still being non-league, whereas the Iron have been in the Football League since the early 1950s.
However, in terms of postal services we appear to be at least equal to the steel town - and some might say even slightly ahead.
Our post office has been at the back of Martin's shop for some years; Scunthorpe's is now at the back of a food shop, near the bus station.
We were reminded of this when we paid a visit to Brigg's facility to send a  registered letter to Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs. No queue - very efficient service, as ever.
Clearly, more folk use Scunny's back-of-the-shop facility so you have to wait longer to be served, from what we've observed.
There's a fairly level playing field in terms of post office layout between Brigg and Scunthorpe. Just as there used to be when we still had a traditional post office in Bigby Street and the steel town had one in Cole Street.

....just an observation, Nige...the very efficient staff who serve behind the post-office counter at Martins are not Royal Mail employees.
Martins has the contract to run a small sub-post office in the shop and the 'post-office' staff are Martins's employees.....and allegedly receive remuneration related to that of shop assistants and not that of Royal Mail post-office staff.
