We were heartened to see some people last night who'd
attended a pre-opening session at Wetherspoon's White Horse pub but later moved
on to other licensed premises in the town centre.
This is how many of us hope the arrival of Wetherspoon's will
pan out: It will attract many people into Brigg for a pint and/or a meal who
don't normally visit our town centre for his reason.
Once they've sampled the revamped White Horse, some will
decide to have a wander round the town and pop into other
businesses.
A good few people have been invited to Wetherspoon's in
recent days for a taste of what will be on offer to the general public from
Tuesday, January 27 - the date of the official opening.
All comments we've heard so far about drinks, food, decor and
prices have been extremely positive.
We hope to get down on Tuesday night for our first pint at
the revamped Horse, having downed our first at the original White Horse (then
owned by Wards) back in the 1970s and many more during the tenure of landlords
like Tom Merriman and Andy Cooke.
Many passers-by have been reading the Wetherspoon A-boards
outside the pub advertising beers on offer inside and some of the meal
deals.
