BALMY WEATHER: BRIGG RECORD FOR WARM JANUARY?

It's  going to be 16C or even 17C in Brigg tonight, which could set some sort of record for January 9 when the snow really ought to be deep and crisp and even.
We've just seen a sportsmen in the town centre who reckons it's warm enough for cricket. True, as many of us have played the great summer sport for Brigg Town Cricket Club in April when the temperature has been only a few degrees above freezing.
It's very mild but also very windy tonight. So watch how you go. At this rate, rather than tackling ice on the paths and roads, council workmen might find themselves dealing with fallen trees tomorrow morning!

Fortunately, the trees are not in leaf.....but windy weather will also bring down faulty chimneys, slates.....
I was driving to Newcastle this am...and it even took one of those mobile buildings - the radio called it a shed - a Portacabin-type thing from off the back of a lorry.....the remnants were strewn across north & south carriageways...and one car on the southbound side had smashed into a large sheet of the thing.....we just got thro' before the A1 was closed for hours and hours...
