HUNDREDS SPEEDING

Almost 500 motorists were recorded speeding down Bigby Road, Brigg, figures show.
A survey on the 30mph route into and out of town showed 498 offenders with 8.27 per cent of all motorists clocked doing more than 35mph (never mind 30).
Of the speeders, 392 were travelling at 35-40mph and five racing at 50 or more!
Casualties along this stretch were one in 2007, two in 2008 and none in 2009.
Monitoring was carried out in late January outside Nos 26/27 Bigby Road.
We think it was one of those mechanical checks, not involving the police.

Bigby Road...or Bigby High Road, Nige?

The open, straight stretch of Bigby High Road does encourage motorists to drive at excessive speed......but I would be very concerned if dirvers were speeding down the often congested, narrower, Bigby Road - geographically from the Queen St junction, over the Monument roundabout to the railway level crossing.

And what about Wrawby!!!!
Have just spoken to Nige the Bike in Tesco's.....apparently the roads about Wrawby are a veritable race-track.
Cars streaking along Barton Road at 70 plus and the Melton/Brigg Roads are nearly as bad.
Should we apply for official recognition as a F1 racing circuit?
Just think, Hill Chicane; Vicarage Corner; Brigg-End Elbow, Nige-du-Velo Straight will soon be slipping of the tongue within the motor-racing fraternity.
