Lincolnshire County Cricket Club would really welcome the support of Brigg area sports fans at the most important three-day game of the season, which starts on Sunday.
The county club has an annual fixture in the north and it is taking place a decent distance from Brigg.
County chairman Chris Keywood told Brigg Blog: "Lincolnshire CCC go into their final 3-day Eastern Division Championship fixture of the season knowing that 7 points will be sufficient for them to retain the Eastern Division title they won in 2016.
"They face Hertfordshire at Cleethorpes, commencing on Sunday, 13th August (11am start) 18 points in front of second-placed Staffordshire. A maximum of 24 points is available in the match, 16 for a win plus 4 batting bonus points and 4 bowling bonus points, and it could be that less than 7 points may be sufficient to win the division if Staffordshire fail to take maximum points from their match against Cambridgeshire at Wisbech."
Lincolnshire will select from the following squad: C. Wilson (Capt. & Wkt.), D. Brown, A. Carter, M. Carter, R. Dixon, D. Freeman, L. Kimber, M. Lineker, C. Louth, J. Timby, A. Tilcock and A. Willerton.
N.F. ADDS: For the benefit of those from our area without car transport to Cleethorpes, we suggest a bus from town on Monday and/or Tuesday to Barnetby and then a train to Cleethorpes. The cricket ground is on Chichester Road, not far from the seafront (take the first turning on the right beyond the leisure centre). The extensive clubhouse has a fully licensed bar and there is plenty of seating available around the ground.
