In London and other large cities the local authority provides bikes like these you can hire on the spot to get out and about and take in the sights.
Could North Lincolnshire Council do likewise in Brigg once the wonderful Ancholme Way finally reaches South Ferriby?
They could install a bike rack on the paved area at the end of the towpath, close to the County Bridge.
It will be a very pleasant and healthy ride alongside our river all the way to its confluence with the mighty Humber.
In London, these hire for pleasure 'treaders' were dubbed Boris Bikes after the Mayor, Boris Johnson, who supported the initiative during his time running the capital's affairs.
Pictured above are bikes awaiting hire in Lincoln, the rack being alongside one of the many cycle tracks.

Even b4 Boris Bikes, they had a similar scheme operating in Cambridge.
I was in Cambridge in June and watched the 'Bumps'..a rather eccentric pastime of college rowing crews chasing other college crew and trying to 'bump' the other on the river.
The losers have to put twigs in their hair.....
The Cam always reminds me of the Old Ancholme.
ps...In Cambridge, one can hire an assortment of bikes - kiddies'bikes and those bikes with toddler trailers.....
How about promoting coming to Brigg by train using your bike to/from the local station and taking the bike.on the train
How about moving the 'Bike Station'...the facility for doing DIY bike repairs to a more conveninient and accessible location.
The station is located in the courtyard behind the Angel/Courtyard cafe, but is locked behind iron gates on Sundays and Bank Holidays.....popular days for cycling about Brigg....
Asked why it was locked away....an official person told me that it could be vandalised!.......but aren't we meant to have CCTV cameras that can catch such scallywags? Perhaps they're white elephants, as well.

3 years ago we contacted a local Brigg councilor who has connections with bikes to help promote using bikes in trains to & from Brigg, we still await a response.
