BUNTING TO GO UP IN BRIGG TOWN CENTRE

Bunting will be hung across town centre streets in Brigg during the warmer months of  2016.
Brigg Town Council has agreed in principal to the idea proposed by Coun Ann Eardley, Deputy Town Mayor.
Wrawby Street and the Market Place are set to get the colourful treatment (see previous year's picture above).
Costings will be obtained and presented to a future meeting, with a view to getting the bunting in place as soon as possible.
Coun Mike Campion felt the bunting should not be left up too long or it could begin to look tatty.
Coun Penny Smith voted against the proposal, saying she was sick of picking up bunting that had fallen down.

I think the origin of bunting goes back to C17th, I remember it well!!
But bunting is a bit 1950ish....time has moved on, despite Brigg's pleasing time warp of being a decade, or so behind everyone else..
One only has to look at the entrance of new Mumbai restaurant to get a clue of what projected images can do.
Why not bathe the Angel in curling red, white and blue lights?
On an everyday basis, how about illuminating the various alleyways and even County Bridge with different coloured lights?
Back to basics, utilise the existing Crimbo tree supports above shops to fly tri-clusters Union, England and Lincolnshire flags....
