HO-HO-HOST OF FUN AS THE BRIGG CHRISTMAS LIGHTS CAME ON WITH SANTA IN ATTENDANCE

Very busy inside the brand new Cafe Courtyard eatery in Brigg - through the glass doors into the Angel building - following the switching on of our Christmas lights.

The centre of Brigg was THE place to be on Friday night to watch the Christmas lights switched on - provided by Brigg Town Council and erected, yet again, by the efficient team under the control of Barrie Gray.
Town Mayor Councillor Carl Sherwood was master of ceremonies on the stage and the lights come on at 5pm, allowing a good four hours for visitors from far and wide to enjoy the spectacle..
Brigg District Lions also deserve congratulations for staging their ever-popular Christmas Fair which accompanies this major communal event.
There was late night shopping until 9pm with many businesses enjoying a brisk trade.

A fine view across the Market Place and taking in the landmark Buttercross, taken by Ken Harrison once the Christmas lights had come on.

Cast members from the pantomime at the Plowright Theatre in Scunthorpe entertaining the crowd in Brigg Market Place. Joan Plowright - Lady Olivier - hailed from Brigg, living in Central Square as a young girl, moving  to Scunthorpe, where her father was editor of the Star weekly newspaper, and going on to become a famous actress.  PICTURE BY KEN HARRISON.

Manning the tombola stall outside the Black Bull in Wrawby Street during the Brigg District Lions Christmas Fair that followed the switching on of the illuminations.
