Efforts are being made to save one of the last of the old, traditional School v Old Boys' cricket fixtures, which used to be popular across Lincolnshire decades ago.
The Briggensians (ex-pupils of Brigg Grammar School and Sir John Nelthorpe Comprehensive) should have been playing a School X1 tonight (Tuesday June 14) on the school field, in the annual June clash. But they aren't!
However, the Briggensians' Association, and some of the regular Old Boys, are keen to see this historic fixture continue. And we hope to hold Attempt Two on a Friday night before mid-July - date to be notified through this website.
Efforts are being made to find a skipper for the Old Boys (one or two names have been mentioned but I'm too old to take it on AGAIN). .
Having said that I'm happy to take offers to play and will pass them on to the captain, once he's confirmed. Please email scoopfisher@aol.com or add your name, email address and phone number as a comment to this posting.
To play in the game you need to be a former pupil of BGS (pre-1976) or SJN - or a member of staff. Or a former student of Brigg Sixth Form College.
