'ONGOING BURDEN' OF FOOTPATH MAINTENANCE

Clothes Hedge footpath is listed for discussion tomorrow (Wednesday, June 8) when Brigg Town Council’s planning and environment committee meets in the Angel Suite (7pm).
North Lincolnshire’s public rights of way officer has contacted the town council about what is being described as the ongoing burden of maintenance of the path behind St James’ Road (linking Yarborough Road with Churchill Avenue).
Planning applications submitted in Brigg during recent weeks will also be discussed at tomorrow’s meeting, which is open to the public.
It will be followed - at 8pm - by a meeting of the Town Council’s policy committee, when there could well be a discussion about the possibility of Town Twinning, an approach having been received some months ago from a community in Germany.
Again, the public are welcome to sit in on this meeting and listen to what their elected representatives have to say.
If you can't make it, worry not - Brigg Blog will be attending to report on proceedings.

Perhaps this is an example of where funding can be transferred from NLC to the local community.
Other local initiatives could include transferring funding for public toilets, the rec, local tourist information facilities, OAP facilities..... This would allow the local community to specifically identify specific area of needs and priorities accordingly. It would also allow local bodies a wider funding base....and encourage a broader range of community involvement....generate a feeling of 'ownership'.

It's not always easy to keep these paths clear. They take a lot of maintenance and work. The accessibility that the footpaths create is well worth it though. http://www.kevm.com.au/services/
