TESCO STORE DATE CONSULTATIONS

We gather that comments on Tesco's planning application to create a big new store in Brigg will now be accepted up to mid-January - not January 3 as originally indicated by North Lincolnshire Council.

Does that subsequently mean that the 'Decision By' date is equally deferred?

Nevertheless, putting the initial date to mid-January (possibly, Friday, 14th)only adds 8 further days for comments - from Brigg TC 'open' meeting there will be 6 days to comment.

As a major development (meant to be combined) wot's the rush?

The question is not whether we are for or against, but folks should have a reasonable time opportunity to have their say.

As an aside, there does seem a disproportionate power inbalance between NLC and Brigg TC....needs redressing.
If, repeat if we accept the Government's Big Society - then the local community should be involved in the management and development of such a community - if the big decisions are taken by NLC (often reflecting party-political division on issues)Brigg esentially remains an unfortunate puppet of NLC.

PS I don't naturally accept the objectives of the Big Society per sa - it could create divisions between those with the loudest voice and inordinate amounts of power and perhaps the majority of folk - but Brigg TC needs the opportunity exercise its muscles on significant issues.
This may mean creating a district council..........hasn't Nige already mentioned that several times....he's pinching me ideas!!!!!
