Ken Harrison's comment relating to a watering hole at Scawby Brook set me thinking about how far Brigg drinkers are prepared to walk for a pint. I always regarded the Horse and Cart and King Billy at Scawby Brook as too far to go from the St Helen's estate, though I recall just once coming back from Arties Mill, Castlethorpe, on foot. However, I legged it to Brigg Sugar Factory Club many times when Brigg Town played cricket on the Factory field. Many of us from our side of Brigg happily walk to Jollies or the Black Horse, Wrawby, in the warm weather, usually across the fields. However, I'd conclude the Yarbrough Hunt, in Bridge Street, is just about the limit these days.
A free pint or two might entice us a big further, though!

Don't forget, Scribs, the Horse @ Cart use to do a good Sunday roast in the 80's (and perhaps later).
We use to go there as a family on a regular basis.
..and regarding the Jollies and/or Jolly Miller.....in the 70's and b4, the pub was called The White Horse.
That's the time when Wrawby only had BLACK and WHITE tellies... and horses!!!
